The last 15 years have been so consumed with doctor appoints, tests, managing school, managing medicines, and all those things you know about yourself, that I really don’t remember any other way of living.
My daughter was a very active kid. She had a best friend that lived across the street. Her friend was a year older and they went to different schools, but beyond that they were inseparable. They loved swimming and loved, loved animals.

About a month after our car accident, my daughter came home from school and complained about her ankles becoming itchy and red. She had always had some eczema and contact dermatitis, so that was my logical conclusion. We tried different socks, cleaned the insides of her shoes, I was careful to use an allergy free detergent, but it didn’t help.
The reason it didn’t help is because the problem wasn’t skin allergies, but I wouldn’t come to this realization for many years. The real problem was that the kids were getting ready for their spring concert, so they were standing for long periods of time without moving around much. This made the blood pool in her ankles, thus the red, and the vessels expand, thus the itching. There was no other symptom than this until about a year and a half later when she started to grow.
