This morning is a gift. It is free. It is from God. It is Mother Nature at her best.
I am sitting on my back porch. There is no wind, (almost unheard of in western Kansas!) and it is softly and steadily raining.
I love the rain. I have for as long as I can remember. Growing up on a farm, I remember sitting on the pond dock watching the rain come across the pond. It’s one of my fondest memories.
There aren’t many mornings like this. I have many things to get done, but am forcing myself to take it in. My 8 month old puppy, 70 lbs. already, is loving it too. He is running around like he never knew life could be so good.
Meanwhile I am grateful for two very useful byproducts of the rain: the dog is getting a free bath and I don’t have to water the garden today!!
This is one of my last free mornings, as I go back to work at a school on Monday. COVID has made everything crazy.
Thanks God, I needed a break. You know how we all do. Thanks for stepping in and giving it to me. Take the time to notice the free gifts, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Some, like a windless, rainy morning in my part of the world, are rare.
